Sermon 3, Job 1:5
- Total depravity
- Worship and our purpose
”If we come to him such as we are, we deserve to be rejected and considered as stinking carcasses by him.”
“We must each consider our weaknesses and pollutions, and if we are displeased with them and at the same time ask our Lord Jesus Christ to wash us so that we are able, having been cleansed by his blood, to appear before the face of God his Father as pure.”
“…God wanted to have some seed and remnant in the world until his church was set up…”
“…faith can never exist without obedience.”
“In addition, we also see how men are completely given over to evil, seeing that they pervert good and holy things, and when God made his will known to them, they changed it completely.”
“God accepts no worship except what is offered by those who know him.”
“The worship of God must be spiritual.”
“Now the point is that we must consider how we are to glorify God in the whole of our lives, for that is why we were created and why we live.”
“…let us pray that God will grant us the grace to know he has placed us in the world to magnify him as we await that most blessed day when he will receive us all to himself, after we have lived in this world when our pursuit was only to be governed by him, subjecting ourselves to him in all things and in all places.”
