Walking Through Uz with Calvin

Sermon 55, Job 14:13-15

Challenges and the Change.

I am pretty sure that yesterday evening I broke my left foot again. I am devastated.

I have been blogging about how everyting that happens is ordained by God. I do feel like, if I believe that, then this is a significant challenge by God to test my faith. I have two immediate concerns. One is whether I should go to the ER, and the other is what do I do about shoveling?

Today’s sermon teaches me to be quick to accept God’s truth, and that “faith is never without battles”. Well, it’s go time.

Interestingly, Calvin spends a lot of time today speaking about something new. The “change”. He uses the word a lot. It is in reference to our own resurrection. He argues that this change has its beginnings early on. “…let us learn to recognize the changes God makes in us everyday so that we will be lifted up and in that way be at peace until we are renewed in the kingdom of heaven”.

Today is a challenge. I pray that God will not test me more than I can bare and that He will give me the strength to bear this change.
