Sermon 56, Job 14:16-22
Calvin emphasizes our sins. He does this to such a great extent that the beginning of today’s sermon was all the sweeter as it talks about God’s acceptance of us without our own merits.
The sermon offers useful directives. There are common, highly repeated threads that pass through all of Calvin’s sermons. Those threads ebb and flow as to which one is emphasized in which sermon. Today it is about the dangers of emotion and the importance of self examination.
