Walking Through Uz with Calvin

Sermon 67, Job 18:1-11

Calvin thinks, or at least uses, two contrasting ways of describing man and God. For the former he uses the word “confusion” a lot. For the latter, he uses the word “ordered”. This jives with me and I think of how a lack of clarity, I.e. confusion, is awful and how I do, in fact, always strive for clarity and order. Perhaps this means that I do have some God given sympatico.

Calvin also has a great line in this sermon:

“What is men’s primary good? That they may be assured their consciences are at peace and at rest so they can pass through both life and death in true stability and even enjoy life.”

This is very succinct. It is, in a nutshell, what I am looking for.
